Frottage Drawing

The frottage drawing experience we did in class was quite interesting. I did three of them but this one caught my eyes the most. I decided to outline a tiny part of the image with a thin pencil and leave the rest as it was, so that I was not filling the gap to interpret the work but to leave it as an open end.

The subject matter of this image is an non-objective shape that was painted in yellow crayon and pencil.

The content is a part of a leaf being exposed under the x-ray.

Language Project

This is an in-process collage piece I’ve been working on since this February. It was partly inspired by my current film project as they both share the motif of deconstructing language. The piece is designed to be rotated and viewed in two directions.

The subject matter of this piece is the random combination of roman letters, Japanese characters, punctuation marks, numbers, human body, vehicles, doors and windows.

Whereas, the content is to deconstruct the so-called “civilization” and “human intellectual achievement” and rearrange those symbols into a work of absurdity. The piece is designed to be viewed in both sides but ultimately, all symbols are presented in one canvas.
